So the problem is with the battery, not the phone. Unfortunately, the battery cannot be removed, so if you are concerned you will need to send the whole phone back. You should be able to exchange it for a replacement.
However, this is a very rare problem, affecting about 35 out of millions of phones. It’s also worth bearing in mind that it only happens when it’s charging, so it won’t explode in your hand. But it’s best not to leave it charging overnight.
